Professor Sherwin specializes in the treatment of diabetes and is widely considered to be the world’s leading expert in hypoglycemia. His special interests include Type 1 diabetes, intensified insulin therapy, complicated Type 2 diabetes patients, and hypoglycemia associated with diabetes. Professor Sherwin is the CNH Long Professor of Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, a former President of the American Diabetes Association, and a former member of the FDA Advisory Committee for Endocrinologic and Metabolic Drugs. He is the editor of one of the major medical textbooks on diabetes mellitus and wrote the chapter on diabetes for the Cecil Textbook of Medicine. Professor Sherwin has served as the Chairman of the Medical Science Advisory Board of the JDFI and on the editorial boards of leading diabetes and endocrine journals. Dr. Sherwin is listed in “The Best Doctors in America” (eds. S. Naifeh and G.W. Smith) for diabetes care.
