Robert R. Henry, MD

Professor Henry is an internationally renowned clinical investigator, scientist, and speaker. He has a great combination of experience in both clinical trials and fundamental basic research to conduct clinical transition studies. Dr. Henry is on the Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association and the Executive Committee of the VA Cooperative Study of Glycemic Control in Diabetes, Type 2. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and Edinburgh, and is on the Editorial Boards of The Endocrinologist and Diabetes Review.

He is currently Chair of the Veterans Medical Research Foundation Advisory Research Committee and a consultant and reviewer to the NIH, ADA, and VA, as well as many pharmaceutical companies. He received his medical degree from the University of Manitoba School of Medicine and Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Henry’s current research interests involve skeletal muscle and adipose tissue interactions, the pathogenesis of insulin resistance and novel therapies for diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.
