Michael F. Powell, PhD (Observer)

Mr. Powell has been a Managing Director of Sofinnova Ventures , Inc., a venture capital firm, since 1997. Dr. Powell was Group Leader of Drug Delivery at Genentech, Inc. from 1990 to 1997. From 1987 to 1990, he was the Director of Product Development for Cytel Corporation, a biotechnology firm. He was recently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Kansas and an editorial board member of several pharmaceutical journals. Dr. Powell also serves on the board of directors of Seattle Genetics, Inc., Threshold Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and a number of private companies. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto and completed his post-doctorate work at the University of California.
